I wanted to let everyone know at r/woodworking that I finished making version 2.0 of my cutting board design software (CBdesigner). I'm not sure if you guys even knew about the previous version that's been on the internet for the past 7 years. S O YOU ARE HARBORING SECRET ASPIRATIONS to become the next Iron Chef or Master Chef. Or at the very least, you want to be able to make a meal that will be able to wow everyone around you. Especially guests. And family members. You've tried working with some creative egg molds and creative egg gadgets, and have managed to conquer breakfast, and create rave reviews every time. CBdesigner (FREE) The designs attached is what I choose for my cutting board. I imagine there are millions of different kinds of combinations! I would like to give a BIG thanks to Jay for writing this great program. It works fantastic! Very easy to learn. It took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. There is also a video on how to use the software.

 2. Love what you can do with a simple drawing. Don't know how the software calculate the length of a line but again, I haven't used it enough 

 3. Works for both US and Metric which is a BIG plus. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to use and scale the image.

I just did some tests that others here may find interesting — I pushed some design tools to the point where they were lagging a lot on the canvas, to see how they use the hardware. This was an extremely non-scientific test, but it still may provide some value.
The testDraw lots of rectangles that have a fill and a stroke. Then select all the rectangles and rotate them as a group. How many rectangles? As many as was required to make the tool get very stressed. It was a different number of elements for each tool, so this isn't a like for like comparison. It's more about resource usage and what's important when speccing a Mac for design work.
Why boxes with strokes? Why rotating? It will alter the object data and cause a repaint of all objects. I also wanted to focus on a common operation. The results will vary pretty wildly in a tool like Photoshop, depending on what you're doing.
For this test, lower usage is bad news, not good news. I pushed them all until the canvas was very laggy. All going well, the app should be pegging the CPU or GPU, making the best use of available resources.
The resultsCbdesigner For Macbook AirIt's interesting how different the results are. Sketch is almost entirely CPU bound (due to heavy use of Core Graphics). Figma is almost entirely on the GPU. Illustrator predominately uses one thread.
Which Mac should you buy? It'll depends which design tool you're using.
